Internships and University

Hey there! I’m a few days late with this post, but we can blame it all on the fact that I’ve started something new on Monday!

I’m nearing the end of my degree, with only 10 months left, and considering the fact that I currently don’t have a paying job, of course I’m going to be jumping at any opportunity to gain some experience to help me with my future career.

I’m now doing a 3-4 month internship! It’s at a security company here in Brisbane, and I’m one of three Human Resources interns, and even though I’ve only worked 2 days so far, I’ve learnt a fair amount already.

So far I’ve had the opportunity to sit in on an interview, which I really wasn’t expecting to happen for quite some time. It’s already feeling as though the HR manager is trusting me with a lot of responsibility, which is actually something I mentioned I’d like to have during our interviews.

The last few months I had been questioning my choice of degree and future career, but I feel as though doing this internship has now concreted (FINALLY) what I want to spend my working life doing.

Trying to fit this in with my uni life won’t be too much of a challenge, other than Mondays – I have uni 3-6pm and I finish for the day at 2:30! Other than that, being able to keep on top of what’s due will be my most important thing, as for some reason this seems to be the only uni trimester that I have things due on Monday’s.

Next up, finding corporate appropriate size 4 clothing that doesn’t make me look like a granny! So far all I’ve found is that Forever New actually has some cute and well fitting clothes for me.

Do you know of any stores (online or instore) that have size 4 business wear?

xx Sarah
